Okay, saw this about 5 times and absolutely loved it.
Have to say Zan Kermond is about the cutest boy in the whole world. He's.. 8? I think. He was Young Cosmo some of the time. His dad played Cosmo (and Wayne was AMAZING) and his mother, Katie, was in the ensemble as well. talented family!
Hm. The rain was great. And I loved Rachel Beck. She's so very good. The tap dancing was incredible too, especially Moses Supposes - they stuck mostly to the original choreography and that number was designed to be filmed in 3 sections... Wayne and Todd had to dance all thee sections at once without a break. It was very impressive.
Anyone else see SIngin' when it was on? Thoughts? Bloopers? Always love hearing funny stories...

I absolutely loved it - it was fantastic. I'd previously seen an amateur production which also tried to stick closely to the movie, but they didn't have the budget to do it (or the same level of talent, but the cast was quite good overall). But the professional production showed exactly what you can do with a huge budget and fantastic talent!
My only quibble was that at the performance I went to, I think one of the rain tanks wasn't working, so there was a gap with no rain ... but overall it was really excellent.

I saw it with my wife and our two best friends. It was excellent. We all really enjoyed it. There were no bloopers that I noticed  When we walked into the theatre, the orchestra was warming up, in particular the lead trumpet. I made comment that he was very good (nice sound and huge range). Looking in the programme, I discovered it was a guy I knew! Very cool. He played in the Hey Hey, it's Saturday band and also did the trumpet playing in the movie "Crackers" Buff |

Hey Buff, That trumpet guy wasn't Mark Underwood was it? I know a couple of the people who played in that orchestra...one of the trombones as well. But it might not have been the principal trombone or trumpet. Eh, the orchestra was very good as well, just as another note.  I swear I posted this, but it doesn't look like it's come up so I'll do it again, hehe. I also loved the show, although my drama teacher said it was dull and boring and he hated Rachel and Todd. Don't worry, I yelled. "Moses supposes" and "Gotta dance" (I think that was it's title) were absolutely, totally amazing, dancing wise. Being a non dancer, I admire anyone who can, those guys were fantastic. I was a great show, but our venue almost ruined it for us, it was completely wrong for the show and there were some sound issues, but other than that, it was good! |

But the whole orchestra was great. I suppose I'm biased toward brass instruments because I play trumpet (and other ones too). I, too am a non-dancer (although asked to be in 42nd Street earlier this year  ) so the tapping in particular really blew me away. I'd be happy to be able to move and breathe after all that, let alone sing and act Buff |

Ah okay, yeah the guy I'm thinking of only played in Perth I think. He was very loud as well though which made me think it might have been the same guy. 42nd street and Singin in the Rain blew me away with that, I guess I'm not particularly fit physically, but they can actually sing, normally, and fling their limbs about the stage while looking dignified. I't's beyond my comprehension! I had a friend who was in the chorus for 42nd street, he said it wasn't easy. Well, duh, but still, he's a good dancer. |

hoom. i love singing in the rain.. never went to see it but the 'sing in the rain' song was on this abc vid that i had when i was a kid so I really wanted to see it when it came down last year but damn parentals wouldn't let me... just like they wouldn't let me go to the world premiere of xmen2 last nite.... boo hoo.

No it wasn't. His name is David (DJ) Newthingy Heh heh.... I was just re-reading this thread and noticed DJ's name had changed. His name has 2 syllables - the first New and the second is the shortened version of Richard and rhymes with sick. Drat, I thought I'd gotten rid of that censor. The board comes with its own set of censors, and I went through and deleted most of the ones which were over the top. I think it's fixed, though. But yes, I'm a super-moderator anyway ~Julia
