I stand corrected on the composer of Rosie. Geraldene was not first choice, to find out who was, get a hold of the shows financial offering circular.

Now, to get this thread back on track... Got an updated castlist: Geraldine Turner Angela Toohey Jeannie Kelso Sharon Millerchip Hilton Bonner Rodney Dobson Andrew Koblar and there are still two others which I'm unsure of. If anyone knows who they are.... sounds pretty impressive tho!!! and the creatives are: Peter Stannard - Composer Frank Hatherley - Writer/Director Ronne Arnold - Choreographer (also in dirty dancing at the moment) Gai Bryant - Orchestrator Lindsay Partridge - MD Premieres at the independant Theatre, North Sydney on Saturday August 6th. Wohoooo. ;D

From the Rosie flyer: "Rosie is inspired by the life of Rose Shaw (1905 - 1971), the free-spirited cockney girl who dreamed of becoming a great singer like Melba and a great dancer like Pavlova. Instead she became a flower seller and, from a stall in Martin Place, serenaded her customers and passers-by for forty years..." Bookings: M.C.A. Ticketing Ph: 02 9519 6897 or visit www.mca-tix.com

Actually, if you need to know the correct information.......there was never an offer made to Nancye Hayes for the leading role of Rosie. She could not sing the score! Geraldine Turner was the only artist offered the role and the producers are paying her usual (large) fee. Whether or not the supporting cast members are receiving Equity minimum matters not in this forum.
Nancye Hayes will, indeed, perform in STC's Summer Rain at the similar time period. STC pay very small fees! (Though it doesn't matter....)

No one said it was offered to Nancye Hayes. I know of someone else it was offered to months ago. I think you'll find that Geraldene Turner is working for a MUCH reduced fee in Rosie! The seating capacity at the venue it is to play couldn't support actors who command large fees.

Not at all. Geraldene Turner was not first choice. If you want to know who was get hold of the original offering circular from earlier this year. The actress in question is now otherwise engaged in a very successful show which will still be running when Rosie! has come and gone. It also depends on what you call a 'large fee', Turner can't command the sort of fee a Prior can, she isn't an audience favourite and is scarcely known to the general public.

ABC National Radio didn't think she was 'scarcely known to the general public' when they celebrated Geraldine Turner's birthday today. Marina Prior is a very good performer - Geraldine Turner is an Internationally loved and respected performer.
As I posted before: You're quite uninformed!

Hello, I'm new here. It so happens that I am just about to start work on ROSIE. So I can see that a lot of the speculation and guesswork of the correspondents to this subject are plain wrong. Does it matter a toss who was offered the part and in what order? It's not Hollywood, you know, it's not even the Frost Organisation. It's a small-scale, independent company dedicated to doing a brand new musical as well as a limited budget will allow. I say any new Australian musical with a score by Peter Stannard, choreography by Ronne Arnold, and starring Geraldine Turner, Angela Toohey and Rodney Dobson has got a lot going for it. Please, Wayakka people, cross your fingers for us. There's a website up at www.rosiethemusical.com.au
