Rob Guest will be performing concerts in Tassie in December. He's doing songs from Les Mis, PotO, Joplin, Caberet and a few others. Has anyone seen him in concert? Is he worth going to see and hear? Buff

Hopefully he'll be better than he was in Carols in the Domain. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. But I have said that I try to avoid judging anyone from that, so I'll see whether anyone else can say otherwise.

I'm tempted to go just to encourage other performers that it's worthwhile to come and perfrom in Tassie. Buff

Well I'm definitely going now, for one very good reason [glow=red,2,300]I'm singing at the concert[/glow] A group of people have been asked to do backing and the couple of solo lines from "Do you hear the people sing" with Rob at the concert and I'm one. In speaking to the MD, I may get one of the solo lines if one of the original soloist from the Les Mis cast I was in can't make it. I'm rather excited by all this. Also, the girl who played Hodel in FotR (I was Perchik) is singing "All I ask of you" from PotO with him. I'm still excited! 8) Buff

Thanks for the congratulations! I heard from the MD today and I will have a solo line in the song. We have rehearsal tonight, so I'll find out more then I suppose. I also heard from the girl who played Hodel. She met Rob the other day, and now she is singing "Beauty & the Beast" at the Launceston concert and "All I ask of you" in the Devonport concert. Buff

There was a picture and article in the local newspaper today about the concert. I can't direct link or copy from their website unfortunately In the article, Rob Guest mentions that this tour has be going on for 18 months but he has to fit it in between other commitments. One of those is his involvement in "Jeckyll & Hyde". Anyone know where this is going on at the moment? I hadn't heard of it playing anywhere. Buff

That would be the one up in Brisbane, I'd assume. I don't know much else about it, I'm afraid.

Hi there. Just thought I would let you all know that I have a site on Rob Guest that I try to keep up to date as much as possible. www.morphing-media.com/gp/rob_guest/index.htmIf I am lucky, I am usually able to get news on Rob roughly a month or two in advance. As for his concerts, they are definitely worth going to. I went to his concert last year (in Sydney) and it was fantastic. It was really nice to see him performing "out of character" for a change. He jokes around on stage and you really have a good time. Buff, have heaps of fun at the concert, and tell Rob Shannon says hello GP

Buff, have heaps of fun at the concert, and tell Rob Shannon says hello Well I did have fun at the concert but I didn't get to talk to Rob directly so didn't get to say hello for you It was a good concert, and I was happy with the way my solo bit went and got a lot of positive feedback from people in the audience. Rob knows how to interact with the audience. He said about how he spent time in Las Vegas and the show seemed a lot like a Las Vegas cabaret style show. He told some extremely funny stories about working in the USA and some fastinating behind-the-scenes stuff from PotO. Buff

When I was up on the Gold Coast in October there was a truck parked outside the Arts Centre up there advertising Rob in Jekyll & Hyde in September. I'm not sure where else it might have played.
They had also just completed a production of Into the Woods with Julie Anthony and Stuart Wagstaff and the gallery there was quite impressive.
I must admit, I wasn't expecting to stumble across any culture up there. My bad I spose.

He said during the concert he was hoping to launch a full professional production within the next 12 months with his production company. No doubt with him playing the lead Buff

No doubt with him playing the lead No doubt. I'd pay to see a professional production of "Someone Like You" and "A New Life", even without the rest of the show. Or more to the point, preferably without the rest of the show, but I'd put up with it. My mind is racing with the casting possibilites for Lucy. James
