This show is a completely incoherent and totally offensive piece of drivel. You HAVE to see it!
With this cast (Gerry Connolly, Rhonda Burchmore, Mitchell Butel, Melissa Madden Gray & Bert Labonte) they could pretty much take it in turns stealing the show, but for mine it was Melissa Madden Gray, whose portrayal of The Irish Ballad has to be seen to be believed. She also doubled up well with Mitchell in When You are Old and Grey amongst others. Mitchell managed to be unrestrained with all the obsenities despite his young son being in the audience. I assume it was his son as he pointed to a photo and said "there's daddy and uncle Bert", and I used a process of elimination (Gerry wasn't in the photo.) The other performers were mostly solid. I think that Bert Labonte was a little flat, but I'm sure he had better in him. (It was a matinee after all)
Oddly enough, the songs I knew turned out to be the least entertaining. I suppose that makes sense with comedy numbers, if you know the joke it might eventually wear thin.
The profiles of the cast and directors were just about as entertaining as I've read. I am seriously sceptical as to whether they had any hand in writing them.
And one last warning. There is a danger (actually, 2 dangers) for any women sitting in the front row to the right of seat 14. Sally, if you thought getting picked out in Spelling Bee was embarasing... whoa Nelly.

There is a danger (actually, 2 dangers) for any women sitting in the front row to the right of seat 14. Actually, not necessarily women for the latter. And for this, I think I'm going to have to content myself with a "me too" because you covered everything I would have said. Except the design. Absolutely stunning set and costumes. Every time I see one of Gabriela Tylesova's productions I become more a fan. Very distinctive style, but I love it. And my god, Melissa Madden Gray...
