Went to the Sunday evening performance of this, and was completely blown away. I have loved the movie since I was young (I was never gay was I?) And found this to be an excellent adaptation that doesn't in anyway try to provide a carbon copy of the movie.
The performances are uniformly superb, with Tony Sheldon stealing the show with a poignant and compelling performance as Bernadette, and his chemistry with Michael Caton is wonderful. Jeremy Standford does admirable work in what is generally the dullest of the three ladies. Daniel Scott is a real find, he is superb as wild child Felicia, his entrance song 'Venus' and Second Act show-stopper 'Hot Stuff' are wonderful. I also LOVED collette mann's delivery of 'I love the night life' and Lena Cruz's hilarious delivery of 'Pop Muzik!" which now surrounds the infamous ping-pong ball scene.
Technically this show is second to none, it is a triumph of design. The bus is an absolute triump, it shakes, it turns it does everything you can imagine and it looks wonderful. Costumes are OUT OF THIS WORLD! I couldn't stop clapping everytime there was a massive costume change.
Do yourself a favour, see this show, it is a wonderful night of 'gay' entertainment, and it is AUSTRALIAN made so that can only be a good thing right?

Just got home from the matinee and was similarly blown away, so much so that I can't wait to see it again I've actually never seen the film before, but that's going to change soon, I hope. So I had no idea of what to expect in terms of story...pretty much fell in love from the getgo Amazing fun!
