Damn I thought she was incredible in Oliver. Of all the many Nancys I've seen and heard, NONE of them come within a mile of Tamsin!

I'm still kicking myself because I couldn't manage to go see <i>Oliver</i>. I was extremely broke at that point. I've heard so many good things about it. My friend went to see it and she loved it.
Are you going to see Bye Bye Birdie in July? I'm definitely going. It'll be fantastic.

Off at a bit of a tangent, but I saw an interview on the ABC with a kid who was (I think) the Artful Dodger. He was the most amazing kid. He knew what he was doing, why he was doing and was able to clearly expalin why he loved doing it. I wanted to see the show just for the sake of that kid. My best friend and his wife saw it and said it was excellent. Buff

You missed Oliver?! Oh no!!! It was just incredible! I saw it on my birthday and the very next day I went out and bought a ticket for the closing show. I just knew I needed to see it again, and thought it was safest to get it for the last show because then that'd be that ;D On retrospect, I should have just bought a ticket for each night of the closing week!! But I'm not that rich. I'm seeing BBB I got my ticket the day after I heard about it - 2nd row centre Wouldn't miss it for quids. And I just saw Hair last week as well, I got my Hair and BBB tickets on the same day. I've been an Oliver fanatic since I was 4 years old...and Nancy was always *the* character I idolised. You know how when you're little you make up middle names for yourself and so on? Mine was always Nancy. And all my dolls were called Nancy at one point in their lives! So Tamsin had 17 years of my mad obsession to live up to And within three seconds of her being on the stage, that was it, I was blown over, in awe. I've seen the movie since a few times but it just pales in comparison now. As do all my many stage soundtracks - I wish, wish, wish that they'd release ours on CD! None of the other Nancys can hold a candle to her.

Okay I found this thread and I had to reply it I'm a huge Tamsin fan. Of all the shows I've seen her in Oliver! would have been the one where she stood out the most - I think it's because with each role she does the more experience she has the more she just blows me away. I can say I was at the Helpmanns when she won for Oliver - just the first of the three she won this year for her role in Oliver! Her performance was wonderful and I totally agree with tamsinann when she mentioned about how she had a lot to live up to with the song "As Long As He Needs Me" and she nailed it in every single performance I saw. re: Artful Dodger The interview on New Dimensons was with Matthew Waters who played the Artful Dodger in Sydney - I saw 3 different ADs and imo he was the best one I saw in the role. Can't wait for BBB. I'm seeing Christian Brothers and Bye Bye Birdie on the same day - talk about getting an overdose of the Carroll family Btw, I'm not sure if you're allowed to promote sites here - but I've recently set up a Tamsin Carroll website in case anyone's interested... got tons more to add to it though over this weekend. You'll have to tell us how Christian Brothers goes. I was going to go see it, but I have to be careful what I go see at the moment because I'm not steadily employed. Yes, you can promote your site here. I might get jealous if it's another message board but otherwise, go for it ~Julia

since I was in Melbourne that weekend I thought I don't want to wait another year to see Christian Brothers so thought what the heck I'll do the double <g> Well my site has a board to it - which basically is empty at the moment <g> but beware I might pm you offline to see if I can be an affiliate or something like that to this board Anyway the link below will take you to my TC site - beware it's not linked at the moment - it'll be unveiled July 16 when BBB premieresn - mainly because it's no where near finished at the moment - but I'm trying to do this wonderful performer justice so it'll take a while to get it fully functional! tamsincarroll.cjb.net

I was watching "Hey, Mr Producer!" on Ovation tonight and I was watching the Oliver section with "Pick-a-Pocket" and "As Long as He Needs Me" and it made me proud to be an Aussie.
Because our production with the performers we had in it rang circles around the ones who performed the songs at Hey MP.
It made me really appreciate Tamsin's version of that role, not that I hadn't (heck see posts around the web for evidence of that) <g>, but Cam Mac was spot on the money when he said he had to make the role younger to accommodate Tamsin.
Makes me really wish I had a recording of the whole damn show now <g>
