I have just read on another forum that Caroline O'Connor is starring in a new musical called 'The Hatpin' in Sydney in February!!!!!! I am a huge Caroline O'Connor fan and am so excited we are going to see her in a musical again!!!! But does anyone know if this is also coming to Melbourne?

Tickets for The Hatpin are now on sale.

The Hatpin is a new Australian musical by James Millar and Peter Rutherford. It will have its world premiere in Sydney in Feb / March 2008 starring Caroline O'Connor, Peter Cousens, Barry Crocker and Melle Stewart.

Another one, and this is absolutely raving. Sounds like the show has a fan. They have definitely picked out the most chilling moment in the show, though. I'm still shivering from the workshop, so can't wait to see how that goes in production.

IT WAS FABULOUS. SO SO SO SO SO FABULOUS.

One of my favourite performances ever. So wonderful. I didn't feel it was too long at all, it passed quickly. I was sad it was over!

Please go and see it if you have the chance. It's truly a wonderful night.

The creators of the Australian musical The Hatpin, which premiered at the Seymour Centre in February, are off to Broadway after the production was selected for the New York Music Theatre Festival. More than 4000 scripts were submitted to the festival - hailed as the Sundance of musical theatre - with The Hatpin one of the few international and the only Australian script to make the final cut of 25.

The show's star, Caroline O'Connor, is expected to reprise her role in New York when the creative team behind the production- including the director, Kim Hardwick, the designer, Martin Kinnane, and the producer, Neil Gooding- stage the show for an audience of Broadway bigwigs. "The festival is like a shop where all the major US producers go to look for new productions. To get invited to stage the show in New York, that is the aim," Gooding said yesterday.

While the show - which tells the story of a destitute woman in 1890s Sydney - uses suburb names such as Newtown and Stanmore, Gooding said the team had made only minor script changes. "We will still use the suburb names but the story will be set in a fictional city. The accents will all stay the same. We are making an effort to cast Australian actors in New York." Financed partly by Austrade, the trip will be largely self-funded. The Hatpin is scheduled to be performed at the festival from September 15 to 24. The soundtrack to the production is out now.
