In the Age of Aquarius, a time of harmony and understanding, Hair puts the rock music and the culture that went with that time onto the stage. The show has a strong effect on audiences, and acts as a bridge between generations and viewpoints. What looks like incredible chaos is actually organized chaos. Phenomenal musical numbers include Aquarius, Good Morning Starshine, I Believe in Love, Hair, I Got Life, What a Piece of Work Is Man and Let the Sunshine In.

As a social commentary of our times, Hair provides an insight into the philosophy of the flower children of the 1960's with a vitality, a timelessness and a meaning that lives on today.

SEASON Annexe Theatre Launceston, February 4-14, 2009 for 10 performances

Hair deals with multiple mature themes and contains adult language. The original script contains a nude scene, and it is the intention of the producers to include this scene in this production. This is an excellent show to showcase young performers of all ethnicities and body types. Risk-taking is essential for this show, so take this into consideration when choosing your audition material. All performers must be able to move well and MUST be over 18 years of age.

I was lucky enough to be in the front row of the Annexe and found the proximity to the performers yet another amazing feature of the production. The singing was superb, the voices simply beautiful, the acting flawless and the entire show breath-taking. Allana

I live at Oyster Cove (30 minutes south of Hobart) and my last night's attendance at Hair was completely random - I was waiting around for my son and his friends who were attending MS Fest. But it was a very happy coincidence because I enjoy musical theatre and loved last night's show, more so because it was showcasing so much young talent. Last night as the young cast of Encore Theatre’s Hair gathered in the Annexe Theatre, their thoughts were filled with concern and sympathy for the victims and survivors of the horrific bushfires on the mainland over the weekend.

It is clear that more than anything, money can make an immediate difference to those people caught up in this disaster.

So, the Hair cast, crew, band and Encore committee have decided that one of the best ways they can offer their support and assistance is to dedicate a show and donate the ticket proceeds of one of their final performances of Hair.

This Saturday all matinee performance door sale tickets (100+ seats) will be available for $20, with a minimum of $10 per ticket being donated to the Victorian Bushfires Appeal. Tickets on sale at The Annexe from 1.15pm, showtime 2.00pm.
