Just a curiosity, has it ever been staged anywhere in Aus yet, that anyone knows of? Friend doesn't seem to think it'd ever see the light of day down here but I'm pretty sure somewhere must have done it once? (Please? lol) (Or even nicer would be some place doing it sometime in the coming year.. ;D but I won't hold out for that)

hmm good question - I mean we've heard tons about the Broadway production, but I haven't seen anything about it here in Australia (well at least in Sydney that I know of).

You're in luck Sally...on BOTH counts!
Yes it has been done is Australia...I know cause I was in it! We did it at WAAPA in 2003 which was the Aus premiere and I had the amazing previledge of playing Queenie...and also got to meet Julia Murney who played Queenie on Broadway when she was over here for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in '03...
and that is a perfect way of leading into saying that the first professional version will be seen this year coincedently at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival around July (?) directed by Andrew Lippa himself! I kid you not! (i actually find it a weird coincidence you asked!). The only cast I know of so far is Kaye Tuckerman is playing Kate and Sharon Millerchip is playing May. I'm DYING to see it. I have a VERY soft place in my heart for that show and have (obviously) never seen it.

Oh my goodness, that was so much better than the answer I was expecting! I think all I can say is 'wow'... Queenie! that rocks!! you lucky thing! & (very much belated but anyway) congrats...killer role (I won't even get into the fainting at the very idea of being near let alone meeting Julia Murney! ) I seriously just about fell off my chair!!! Lippa himself!!! Must get to Adelaide!! I've actually been meaning to ask for a while about TWP down under but kept forgetting, it was just last night when I was deafening myself with a crazy (and lyric-forgetting) live version of 'Life of the Party' that my memory was jogged. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, JuliayouhavetocometoAdelaidewithme!!!! (And don't you dare say no, because you are so coming, you hear me??) **Nadine you have to come too! Let's make a nice outing of it! Oh I'm so excited now at the very idea *g* Soph, ya made my day I'm just going to wander off in a daze now, because I was so expecting someone to reply saying "nope, never been done, not ever going to be done"

I keep checking the ACF website and got some dates out of them - WP is June 17 and 18. So, unless hell freezes over, I'll *so* be there on the 18th
