This Thursday evening sees the first gathering in the Launceston Worker’s Club of the Tasmanian cast of The Boy from Oz, on the 17th anniversary of Allen’s passing.
According to show director Belinda King, “As the Encore team prepare to stage a piece of theatre that pays tribute to the life and songs of one of Australia’s great showmen, it seems right that our first cast gathering will take place on the 18th of June. Indeed, a number of our cast weren’t born when Peter died, but I don’t think there would be an Aussie alive who doesn’t know the words of I Still Call Australia Home and be affected by the sentiment of his great song.”
So this Thursday why not... "Put your hands together and help him along.. all that's left of the singer... all that's left of the song..." and raise a glass to Australia's flamboyant song & dance man.

Don't be surprised if you see Coats Patons explode with activity this weekend, because Encore are hosting a very special guest.
Grant Alley, President of Cloc Musical Theatre Melbourne is in town, volunteering his time to teach Encore the intricacies of the amazing set he built, which has provided the onstage playground for his company and companies on the Gold Coast, Far North Queensland and now Launceston.
Some 6 tonnes of set, including 22,000 lights and remote control trucks has been shipped here, with the generous support of Launceston City Council.
It should prove to be an enlightening weekend with Grant, and one where the local Encore team can learn much from the man who leads what is arguably Australia's leading community theatre company.
