The annual Adelaide Cabaret Festival opens on June 5. An Evening With Bernadette Peters is at the Festival Theatre, Adelaide, on June 6 and 7.
"I love the theatre, and audiences in Australia are amazingly receptive," says Peters, who last performed here as part of Leo Schofield's 1998 Sydney Festival. She jumped at the chance to be part of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, which is being directed by David Campbell for the next three years. Backed by a 25-piece orchestra, her performances will include the classic American song Shenandoa, Peggy Lee's Fever, When You Wish Upon A Star and many Sondheim favourites, including Johanna, Not A Day Goes By and No One Is Alone from the 1987 musical Into The Woods, for which she created the role of the witch.
