Just a couple of snippets of news about Aussies who have recently won roles on West End.
Damian Humbley is taking over from fellow WAAPA graduate Martin Crewes as tenor lead Walter Hartright in The Woman In White. Word is that Michael Cormick will also be joining this cast, but no more specifics here.
Now, we already know that Hayden Tee's about to start as Marius in Les Miserables, and Simon Gleeson's been performing in Far Pavilions, including appearing in the lead role.
Sean Mulligan is going to be playing the lead role of Tony Manero in a six week season of Saturday Night Fever before joining the UK touring cast.

Oh, he'll do that very nicely. He always has been good at the sinister types. Although this is rather making me want to plan a trip to London. Darn it.
Thanks for the info!

Did we know about Urinetown going to Sydney? Am I out of the loop? Who's going besides Lisa?

Oh darn, that might be me forgetting to mention it earlier. I thought I had, though. All original cast have been re-offered their roles, so hopefully we'll have Kane and Christen there, too. I had been hoping she'd turn it down so Lucy Durack could do the role, since she'd be perfect, but can't have everything.

It's a nice little article about WAAPA and people who've graduated from there, including Lucy Durack. It is a good article. Makes me want to quit my job and enrol. I think I'm a bit too old now be be starting a new career in theatre Buff

Oh crap I completely missed the fact that we've got Urinetown as part of the STC schedule next year - might have to go to the subscriber briefing next week after all. Lisa's making up for her pregnancy causing her to leave the Summer Rain production

All original cast have been re-offered their roles. I hope that Gerry Connelly does not return! And I doubt Adam will.

There are a couple of cast members for whom I can think of better substitutes, and some who I wish could continue, but most likely won't be able to.
Hopefully at least the best ones will stay, and the replacements will pleasantly surprise us.

Lisa's making up for her pregnancy causing her to leave the Summer Rain production Time to wander into the STC site and find the unlinked info again. If you find out when the subscriber briefing is, I'd love confirmation. I saw it briefly in the Calendar for 12 September on the STC site a week or two ago, but then it disappeared again. I don't want to miss out this year - last year we didn't get our subscription brochures until after the briefing was over!

It got deleted because it wasn't supposed to be up yet - I apologise for leaking it in advance.
September 12 @ 6.15pm ($8) is the night my postcard says for the Subscriber briefing.
laurelin I had that happen to me last year - I was going to go to the subscriber briefing but was sick that night (I went to the year before though).

Rebecca Jackson Mendoza has been cast in the world premiere of Lord of the Rings in Toronto as Galadriel.
I'm assuming she's related to Natalie and Aaron.
Just how large is this family anyway?

Wow, now that's interesting casting. Well, assuming Aaron's a brother, too, she's they're sister. And according to www.nerf-herders-anonymous.net/RebeccaJacksonMendoza.html , was born in Melbourne, New South Wales, Australia ;D She's been playing Oz in WWRY in Asia, so good for her to get that!
