Launceston Musical Society is excited to announce it will stage THE PRODUCERSin JULY 2010 at the Princess Theatre Join us in the Tasmanian Premiere of this hilarious comedy by Mel Brooks. There are acting, singing and dancing roles for all ages - this is a traditional Broadway musical with a modern twist. Excellent character parts for both men and women. E.g.: · Leo Bloom - shy nervy accountant 20-40 · Max Bialistock – larger than life Broadway Producer 30+ · Ula - gorgeous, leggy, Swedish, dancing, Broadway hopeful 16+ · Franz - Nazi Sympathizer playwright (Bert Newton in Melbourne) · Roger de Bris - Gay, cross dressing, choreographer · Carmen - his assistant. Add to this cast a production team that resembles the Village People, “Little old Lady Land”, a jail scene and of course, the “Springtime for Hitler” Broadway Show and there are roles for all. And the dancers do not miss out – a full-scale dance routine with ostrich feather headdresses accompanies Leo’s “I Want to be a Producer”. Have a break over Christmas and start the new year with a brilliant new production. AUDITIONS EARLY FEBRUARY. Register your interest at launms@launcestonmusicalsociety.com Or keep an eye on the Website: www.launcestonmusicalsociety.com Or call Gina on 0409 314 196

But not a unanimous decision apparently because their Assistant Vocal Director very publicly posted this on Facebook today: "I don't agree with a couple of things to do with The Producers and am feeling very negative at the moment. I must learn to accept the things I cannot change and somehow muster up some enthusiasm for the show!!"

I've not been on a audition panel beifre, but I would assume that there would sometimes be disagreement on casting. I have known the person who posted that for virtually all my life. She is a perfectionist, has very strong opinions and is not afraid about to speak her mind. That can put people offside if they don't know where she is coming from. Having said that, to post it on FB maybe was not a great idea. Buff
