Encore Theatre Company is thrilled to announce the cast for the July 2010 production of Are You Being Served at the Earl Arts Centre.

Based on the long-running BBC TV sit-com and set in the ladies and menswear departments of Grace Brothers, all your favourite characters from Captain Peacock to Miss Brahms to the irrepressible Mr Humphries are here for a strictly limited season at the Earl Arts Centre.

Encore Theatre Company is set for a rib-tickling season. The double entendres are non-stop as the well-loved staff of Grace Brothers department store prepare for a sale and then depart on a staff holiday at a one-star hotel in Spain. With the aid of a nuns habit, a bowler hat and Mrs Slocombe’s Union Jack knickers they survive their holiday with everything intact but their modesty!

Ladieswear will be staffed by Patsy Marshall who will be performing the role of Mrs Slocombe and Charlotte Cashion will play Miss Brahms.

Menswear will be headed up by Dennis Mann as Mr Grainger, Nic Tolputt as the irrepressible Mr Humphries and Matthew Garwood as Mr Lucas.

Management will be handled by Ross Marsden as Mr Rumbold and role of Captain Peacock will be played by Jeff Hockley.

Daniel Priest has been relegated to cleaning the staff loos and will inhabit the role of Mr Mash.

Encore is seeking assistance in locating some 70s style items for it's next production "Are You Being Served?" in July.

one wooden or glass shop counter
male and female mannequins
70's style male suits
two wooden clothes racks
two old fashioned cash registers
any unwanted 70's male and female clothing (for display in the store!)

WIN GRAY BENEFIT PERFORMANCE

Without doubt, almost every local theatre company has benefitted from the skills and volunteer time that Win & Alan Gray have invested in countless productions, whether it be Win assembling the costumes or Alan building and bumping in their sets.

The Grays now face the biggest challenge of their lives together with Win currently in Melbourne receiving extensive treatment for a rare and very serious illness.

This turn of events has presented the Grays with many challenges, not the least being financial ones as Alan flies back and forth while maintaining his job at LGH and Win takes extended leave from her work at Launceston City Council.

To assist them in meeting those challenges Encore are pleased to announce a benefit performance of Are You Being Served.

Theatre North have generously waived the Earl Arts Centre theatre hire charges for the evening, so the entire proceeds from the ticket sales (less a nominal show royalty) will be donated to the Grays.

All tickets are $35 and include a complimentary drink and are available direct from Encore Theatre Company.
