Hi everyone. As people might remember, I sent out an email to all posters on this board about 5 months ago asking whether it was worth keeping the board open. At that time, only 5 people responded and since them, there has been little activity. I check the site most days and it seems that only Lana, Hannah and I are the only really regular visitors. As a result, I have decided to close the board. I have let Talissa know and am waiting to hear back from her when to just block any future posting (which I am able to do) or delete the board completely (which on Talisaa as the creator has the power to do). Whichever way it goes, I'll leave the board open for a while so people get the message, and can post some "farewells". I am sad to have made the decision because I have been a part of this site for over 7 years. Regards Buff

Seven years! Wow. Where has my life gone...
Well, it's definitely time the board closed, but it's sad nonetheless.

Hey guys.
I just got this message. Somehow I didn't get the last one. Probably blame it on the junk mail system.
Every post on this topic has the word sad on it, and I guess that's what it is. As much as I long passed the point of contributing, I always felt a little better knowing that Wayakka was still out there. I think in the end we did our best to create a positive environment, and in the harsh flaming world of the internet, it just wasn't popular.
I came to Wayakka as a 25yo having clicked on a link on a Talissa post in the We Will Rock You official website forum. I had a major crush on Christina Tan and a strong Sondheim obsession. The latter still stands, but I now find myself engaged to someone who coincidentally was in the first amateur (non-school) production I ever saw.
As an avid audience member who was never a performer, I found Wayakka to be a great resource, despite some petty arguments with one particular negative member and the realization I had that I was writing some really pretentious reviews for a very small number of people, it was always nice and I have looked back occasionally.
The highlights were being ridiculously optimistic about casting and realizing from my seat in the circle that the person that David Campbell was pointing to and singing about was Sally.
Wayakka, Rest in Peace.
James.
P.S. Buff, look after the elegant thimble.

I know I haven't been here long and haven't posted much but I will miss the place, particularly from a local Tassie theatre point of view.
Bye!

Sorry to see the boards go. Remember the fun we had on here with conflicting views on various productions. Like jackjackjack I didn't get the previous email. I thought I'd come out of lurking to say bye and to wish everyone all the best.

It's been now 3 weeks since the closure message was posted so the time has come to shut the site down. I will post this message then disable any further ability to post. Once again, thanks for being a part of this forum over the last 7 years. Buff
