hi everyone!! ive been wanting to get the rent soundtrack ever since i saw the trailer for the movie coming out, so i was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the original cast soundtrack that's out now. this is the one that i found, but there arent any reviews on it. thanks! www.iclassics.com/productDetail?contentId=48806 |

It's an awesome musical. Very cool cast recording.
The girl playing Mimi annoys me a bit, but her songs are still beautiful. Get it - it's a heart-wrenching story.

Anyone know when the film soundtrack is to be released in Australia? I know we don't get the movie itself until February (*pout*) I'm just wondering if we'll get the 'collector covers' that they had in the US (I picked mine up while over there so it doesn't bother me, I'm just curious!) I've got both the original cast recording and the film soundtrack...I MUCH prefer the 'new' Mimi to the old, and I think I prefer the new Joanne, but both are very good. Tracie Thoms is just so damn adorable! I'd recommend getting the ocr over the soundtrack though, because it's the full thing, and there's a few songs and other bits missing from the soundtrack. I haven't really done a *full* comparison yet, though, so I can't say for sure which I truly prefer. I gave the entire soundtrack a listen the other day and it seems a bit faster paced but the only songs I paid any *real* attention to were Tango: Maureen, Take Me or Leave Me, and Over the Moon. Tango, I prefer the soundtrack one. TMOLM's very different - it seems a bit more laid back, and I think I prefer the ocr one...but then the mellowness of the new one also works. As for Over the Moon, definitely the soundtrack one! It's insane ;D It takes a number that was already pretty crazy, and just makes it even funnier. Oh and yes, I got me a Maureen cover. Is there anyone else?  |
