Hey guys, can someone just confirm for me please...
Pirates of Penzance is out of copywrite and can therefore be performed by anyone, right?
I'm just confused because it's listed on the Australian Hal Leonard site...

As far as I'm aware, all G&S shows are public domain and therefore, no royalties are invovled. I would assume you have to buy or lease the books (unless you can borrow them from somewhere) so you have something to rehearse from .... Buff

It would probably be either the Papp or Essgee version that's on the website. I know that rights need to be bought to produce either of those, but as Buff said, the show as it was actually written is public domain.
