I notice a track from her first album that isn't there There's Got To Be Something Better Than This (SWEET CHARITY). If the opportunity arises have a listen to it, it's hilarious. Not a song sopranos should tackle! At least not that soprano.

Not a song sopranos should tackle! At least not that soprano. I don't mind it that much. It's not in the class of some of the other tracks (Wherever He Ain't, etc.) but it has character. The track that bothered me the most was Over the Rainbow. It just doesn't have the innocence that that song should have. I actually prefer Nikki Webster's version , as imperfect as it is. James

Just a shame there isn't a recording of her doing Adelaide's Lament. I thought that was fantastic.

Odd. The majority of the audience when I was there thought it was.

It was a very pale imitation of the original (have a look at Vivian Blaine on the Lost Broadway DVD Vol 2). She can be good at some things, but she really isn't a comedienne.

I didn't see Marina's version of the song, but I'm always very careful not to get too attached to originals, otherwise you'll never enjoy anything. I've always loved Barbra Streisand's version of this song.
It would be a shame if Marina's Adelaide came off like the original. You certainly couldn't say that about her performances in Annie Get Your Gun, Kiss Me Kate, Witches of Eastwick or Spelling Bee. I've only seen her in comedies. Your comment has got me dying to see her in a more dramatic role.
