Hey all!! I'm new!

I'll intro myself in another forum..

BUT!

I am just wanting to know if anyone knows when the TONY's will be Broadcast on Australian TV...

From memory, they are on SBS in the middle of the day... (so, I'm assuming next Monday...)

If anyone knows, let me know!!

See, I think that Sutton Foster should have won, but then that's just me being biased because I, you know, love her.

(And, omg, bought our Drowsy Chaperone tickets last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <--- I've actually calmed down some since purchase hour)

I don't think Sutton Foster had much of a chance, I think most voters would view her 'Drowsey' character as a variation on Millie. In defence of Jersey Boys it has a very strong book unlike most jukebox musicals. Though I love Sweeney Todd I thought it appeared very flat on the awards show, and what is with the costume plot for that show ? Leather trenchcoat for Sweeney and short skirt for Mrs Lovett? What era is this set now? Didn't like the excerpt from Threepenny Opera, though on subsequent viewings have warmed to it.

It's not an attack on the show, it's a matter of definition. A musical to me is the telling of a story with songs, not about songs. We Will Rock You and Mamma Mia are musicals, but while some of these shows might qualify as plays with music, many of them seem like little more than cover bands doing the occasional scene.

So far nobody's tried to pass As You Like It off as a musical. It'd be funny if they did though.

Wow. When I saw that clip on the Tonys I was thinking how different she was from Millie. I can imagine there'd be a bit of a "her again" reaction though.
