Just when I was starting to build up a bank balance.
It looks like they'll be selling just about anything that isn't nailed down (appliances, furniture, etc), but the mere thought of costumes and props for sale makes me drool. Apparantly they're actually going to be selling the toilet from Urinetown. Probably a little out of my price range. I was hoping for one of the contestant numbers from Spelling Bee, but it looks like they'll be needed next year in Sydney.
MTC Garage Sale 9am-3pm Saturday 7 October MTC Headquarters 129 Ferrars St, Southbank

P.S. MTC Season 2007 gets launced tomorrow. The marketing line is Trip the Life Fantastic!, and the optimist in me thinks that means at least 2 musicals. Although the logo is an exploding light globe and I can't seem to interpret that in any way.

I hate to break it to you early, but MTC arent doing a musical next year. this was known a few weeks ago.
i think with simon doing priscilla and also spelling bee being presented at stc, and the boom of musicals in the next coming year there didnt seem a point. which i think is fair enough. a theatre company doesnt have to do a musical every single year. dont you think?

and just an added extra to my post- i think it is simon phillips efforts in the last three years that have seen the musical theatre boom come back in the country. so i think we should bathe in it and not criticise his company for NOT doing one this year...after all, he is responsible for priscilla!

...after all, he is responsible for priscilla! I didn't know that. That makes me respect him less. And of course a theatre company doesn't have to do a musical, but at least some of the money that comes from the government and goes to theatre should be put aside for musicals, and if the state theatre companies won't produce them, give it to Kookaburra.
