This is pretty much the opposite of a musical, but I think some people might be interested in this.
~~~~~~~~
One hundred minutes of fast-moving, high powered, visually arresting but wordless entertainment accompanied by a live percussive score.
As TAP DOGS reinvented tap dance and STOMP reinvented percussion, SHOOSH turns the classic art of mime on its head. Fusing mime with dance, illusion and physical comedy, SHOOSH is an evening of unforgettable theatre. With not a painted white face in sight.
Four hot young dancer/actor/physical performers join Australia's favourite, Glynn Nicholas, to create an outlandishly funny world. In this world, eccentric waiters battle restaurant patrons, Hitchcock Blondes triumph over attacking birds, pesky shower curtains and vertigo inducing heights. Robotic Cops terrify speeding drivers, aging strippers combat their feather boas and g-strings while dipsomaniacal tramps see visions of glasses that come alive and bottles that fly through the air. And that’s just the start.
SHOOSH is visually arresting but wordless entertainment that will challenge every concept you had about mime. Speaking in a physical and emotional language, SHOOSH will talk to audiences whatever their native tongue.
After five weeks of intensive rehearsals, the cast, crew and creatives of Shoosh are heading to Brisbane for the world premiere. Opening Thursday 30 September, Brisbane audiences will be the first to discover Shoosh.
Shoosh will then go to Sydney for a four week season at the Showroom, Star City.
STARRING: Kaye Tuckerman, Rob Spence, Olivia Ansell, Glynn Nicholas and Andrew Koblar
