I just heard a rumour that Cameron Mackintosh is planning to bring My Fair Lady to Australia as soon as it finishes in London. Does anyone have any idea how long that would likely be? However long it is, it will be worth the wait. It may even end up being near the scale of Les Mis and PotO. Fingers crossed.

Where do you hear all these rumours from Julia...you pull them out everyday, it's amazing.
Australia certainly has the talent to pull it off, I just saw a theatre company do it but of course a proffessional version would be fantastic.
MFL hasn't been to Australia before has it...assuming not because barely anything comes here. *sigh*

I have my sources I suppose I just spend my time in the right places. Australia definitely has the talent to do it. I think I can see Tamsin Carroll getting the lead. She has a lot of talent from what I've heard, though I haven't yet seen her perform. Hopefully I'll be able to see her in Bye Bye Birdie. I think Lisa McCune would be another possibility, and I think she'd even be able to do it well. I don't think it's been done here professionally before, but I can't be sure. There are a few shows which had been done, and I'd only just found out, even if they were within my lifetime. ~Julia

I've never heard Lisa in anything but I've never imagined her being a high soprano, she's definitely got the spunk - old lady word - to pull off the role.
And even though she could obviously sing the role, I don't think is a Marina Prior type production. Maybe she's getting a bit old for the part, or something, else...but I definitely think someone else will get it if it comes.

It won't be Marina. I'm fairly sure it will be Tamsin or Lisa. I heard Lisa in the Australian cast SoM CD, and I think she'd be able to pull it off. Of course, they could surprise me and cast Rachel Beck, but I'm fairly sure it will be one of those two. Now, let's see whether I'm right ~Julia

Well I hope it's Tamsin I never liked the movie of MFL so much but you can bet your bottom dollar, if she's in it - I'm there, front row centre! I'd pay to hear her read the phonebook, lol.

*waves* Hi Ann, welcome. And you may have noticed I've gone on a posting spree today, my internet's been off for a couple of days so I'm making up for it, plus I've missed so much...as well as having 30 something emails to read.

Lisa's name was always circulating for the Eliza Doolittle role - but since she's pregnant at the moment - she won't be doing a musical in the near future.
If it's for a 2004 production then my guess is her name would still be at the top of the list.
Tamsin would be good in the role, since it has the mix of drama and comedy in it, I think like Lisa she might be able to pull it off.
