OK. My wife and I, with a friend who lives in Melbourne (and is rehearsing WSS at the moment) are planning to go to "We Will Rock You" in September. Can anyone tell me what the seats are like at the Regent Theatre, especially the dress circle? I've been there twice before (Man of la Mancha - front row centre; and Singing in the Rain - 3rd of the way back toward the side). MolM was too close (but because Anthony sang "The Impossible Dream" virtually standing above me, I didn't care ) but SitR were pretty good. Is the dress circle any better? I want to buy the tickets fairly soon, so any help would be appreciated! Buff

I saw MolM in the dress circle, and I would have rather been down in the stalls. We were only a couple of rows back from the front of the dress circle, but there was still a fair distance to the stage. I'd say stick with the stalls if you can get good seats there.

btw, Don't you just adore the Regent? It's a beautiful theatre!

Thanks for that, Talissa! It's a great theatre. I especially enjoy the width between the rows - gives people with long legs a fighting chance. Buff

I agree, the Regent is divine In fact when I saw Hair at Her Majesty's, the theatre was a bit of a let down after the glorious Regent. My Regent experiences have been all in the stalls, in 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 18th rows. Although the stage is a little elevated, I still prefer to be as close as possible, even if I have to be looking upwards. Although the front row seats weren't as good as the 2nd or 4th row ones, mainly because they were over to one side.

Is Her Majesty's where they had Mamma Mia? I've only been to two theatres in Melbourne, the regent being one and I'm trying to remember the name of the other. the only name I could think of was the Princess Theatre, but that's the main thearte where I live Being the front row for MolM was a bit difficult for my wife and monther-in-law as they are a bit shorter than me and had to crane their necks to see to the back of the stage. we also missed the effect of the chess board lighting during one scene. Oh yes, you would have missed quite a bit of the lighting. The chess board especially was wonderful. And the courtyard scenes looked marvellous because they had the dappled green lighting. And I loved how the other people on stage looked like statues.
