There have been quite a few new faces since we last discussed this, so I ask again, what shows, if any, would you most like to see on Australia's professional stages, and who would you like to see in the lead roles?
Also, are there any shows that you'd particularly like to see done by amateur groups?

A revival of Oliver.. ;D OK, OK, seriously? On The Town with Hugh Jackman(Gabey), Wayne Scott Kermond (Ozzie), Todd McKenney (Chip), Tamsin Carroll (Claire), Rachael Beck (Ivy)...and I'm not sure who for Hildy. But gee it'd be swell

I'd love to see someone do a Sondheim somewhere in Australia and have my favourites perform in it.
I also would love to see us finally get Thoroughly Modern Milly!

RENT RENT RENT RENT RENT!
Original Australian Cast (as in Sydney cast) would be good. The only change I'd make now would be to put Nat Bassingthwaite in the role of Maureen and put Annie Crummer as Joanne, with Prinnie Stevens taking over the role of SOL soloist, and Clifton Oliver as Benny. Not that I didn't love Michelle Smith, Genevive Davis and Fred Jones, I just loved those three more!
I'd also give Peter Murphy and Prinnie Stevens a rostered show each week as Roger and Mimi (not together I don't think!!) and give Matt Lee a show a week as Mark.
I'd also like to see The Last Five Years done professionally here, and I'd give the roles to Kane Alexander or Matt Hetherington and Ana Maria Belo or Kate Hoolihan. Both couples are strong voices and strong actors, which is what's needed in that show.
Aside from that...hmmm... Elegies for Angels, and make Miguel Ayesa and Kane Alexander have their roles from previous productions (neither of which I've ever seen, but have heard them sing the songs, and they were fabulous).
Oh there's so many I'd bring out if I had a chance!

Wait till I'm about 35. Then I hope there's an Australian production of Guys & Dolls. I'd love to be Big Jule I'd also like to see what an amateur group could do with The Lion King. If a group could pull that off, it'd prove how good amateur theatre can be.

Miss Saigon, Rent and ANYTHING Sondheim! Although technically I would just kill to see any professional theatre, so beggers can't be choosers.

I want to see Les Mis... I missed it when it was here last, so I've never seen it done professionally.
Miss Saigon, Scarlet Pimpernel and Secret Garden (again) get honourable mentions.
Although, like Eowyn, I'll see anything!

I've gotta agree with RockAus and say RENT, as I missed it the first time it was here.
I'd also love to see Rocky Horror with Mitchel Butel as Riff Raff
