It's that time of year when Hats Off is on in Sydney and Melbourne. This year November 2 is the big day.

The cast lists have just been released - subsequently I was going to go to the Sydney one regardless but seeing the list now only makes me want to go even more

It seems that Sydney's got the better lineup this year - a reversal on last year when Melb had the standout lineup

Sydney looks set to blast into the night with a cast of more than 150 including Georgie Parker, Stuart Wagstaff, Geraldine Turner, Nancye Hayes and Toni Lamond. Look out for duets between father and daughter team Tamsin and Peter Carroll and Maggie Kirkpatrick is threatening to turn host Simon Burke's night into a nightmare by insisting he sing with her. A spectacular finale featuring the cast of The Lion King will end what promises to be a night to remember.

Melbourne's concert puts the V back into variety. Strippers, magicians, acrobatics, showtunes, opera, dancing, stars at every turn. We have the wonderful cast of We Will Rock You for the finale of all finales and
Debra Byrne, Anne Phelan, Pamela Rabe, John Bowles, Sylvie Paladino, Anne Wood and Combo Fiasco.... the list goes on and on! This is a must-see on the Melbourne arts calendar!
