A hot new musical, Rebecca, will premiere in concert version for charity in June.

Rebecca - The Musical is the latest collaboration between composer, Kevin Purcell, and writer, Victor Kazan. This exciting new Australian musical will have its world premiere charity concert performance on June 19th with a 23-piece orchestra in aid of The Asthma Foundation of Victoria, Inc.

Based on Daphne du Maurier's celebrated novel - later made into one of Alfred Hitchcock's most popular films - this new musical will bring the timeless characters to the musical stage for the first time.

Rebecca - The Musical will be directed by Aaron Joyner (ozMade Musicals, Saturday Night) and Musically Directed by Kevin Purcell (ozMade Musicals, Cats) and include the performance talents of Maureen Andrew (Saturday Night Fever, Cabaret), Susan-ann Walker (The Sound of Music, The Secret Garden), Will Conyers (Gypsy, Jesus Christ Superstar), and Lauren Elise as Rebecca.

This charity gala event, supported by the University of Melbourne, will be performed with the kind permission of the Daphne du Maurier Estate and the Curtis Brown Group, Ltd. (UK).

The cast and prod team are practically all Melbourne amateurs, with a couple of pros in there (composer Kevin Purcell, performers Will Conyers and Maureen Andrews). Susan Ann Walker isn't in it (as the post implies). She seems to have joined the ever rotating cast list for the show.

I just thought I would correct a few misconceptions about Rebecca - The Musical on June 19th in Melbourne at 8:00 pm in Melba Hall at the University of Melbourne.

The world premiere concert performance with a pro 23-piece orchestra is actually fully professional. It has a fully professional cast.

Response through ticket sales has been overwhelming so far. As of 4:00 today, there are only 69 seats still available.

The performance is being recorded and filmed for an up-coming documentary.

If you're free, come along. Bookings can be made by calling [phone]. The tickets are $50.00 with a $2.50 booking fee. Net proceeds are in aid of the Asthma Foundation of Victoria, Inc.
