Australian musical 'Metro Street' has been shortlisted for the inaugural New York Music Theatre Festival.
The show - about Melbournians finding their way in the world - has been selected from over 200 entries (44 states of America and 11 countries) as worthy of inclusion and will now compete against a handful of works for one of 18 coveted spots.
If 'Metro Street' makes the final cut, Melbourne based writer/composer Matthew Robinson and producer Venessa Paech will open the show Off-Broadway this September.
Rumour has it that another Australian show - the Martin Croft/Dean Lotherington penned 'Joe Starts Again' - has also been shortlisted.
Here's to Australian music theatre invading Broadway!
