There's a reading on next week of "DUTCH COURAGE" a new Australian musical. It's part of the Magnormous Readings Program - which is the company that did Rebecca recently. Apparantly they do heaps of cool stuff for Australian music theatre, including an Australia Day showcase purely of aussie musicals! Got a great cast (very attractive too!) I haven't seen any of their readings but I heard they're really good and usually sell out. Check it out at www.magnormos.com/mtrp.htmlIf anyone nows anything about this company and how you get an audition for them please let me know. A friend of mine knows this chick Vanessa that used to work for them but she's a total psycho so I'm not asking her, hehe. I wouldn't have bothared wanting to work for them while she was there, but she's gone now so I wanna try.

'Dutch Courage' was very good, for any who couldnt make it along, though the book was a wee bit thin.
I've heard some strange rumours about that company too spamda, not what you mention, but I know a few performers who got promised money they never received and they say its a bit of a scary one man show (dont know about that other person though).
All sounds a bit amateurish, which is a shame cause the idea is cool.
Enter at own risk I suppose!

Dear all,
My name is Will Conyers and I played the lead in DUTCH COURAGE and I directed the previous production of MAGNORMOS - NILE BLUE.
I would like to set a record straight here.
MAGNORMOS is a wonderful initiative and, yes, it is now run by one fine person, Aaron Joyner. He was previously partnered by another exquisite human being, Venessa Paech. Some partnerships simply meet their natural conclusion. But references to 'total psycho's are not appropriate for either of these fine theatre makers. Nor are notions that the organisation is 'amateurish'.
Working for MAGNORMOS has been equally joyous on both occassions despite the changes in personnel.

Hi Will, and welcome. Thanks for you post. It's always good to hear two sides of a story. As you would be aware, the internet is a place where people can pretty much say what they want without much to back it up. Hopefully, the comments that upset you won't prevent you from visiting and contributing to the site more inthe future. Buff

Stepping in as admin here.
Yes, the internet is a place where most anything can be said, and much is taken at face value. I originally let the comment about Venessa go because it seemed that most people were sensibly looking over it. This was perhaps a mistake on my part, but it's done now.
I must ask everyone once again to have a care for who else may be looking at the site. Please refrain from derogatory comments about any person, be they active on the board or not, and also try to avoid too much negativity about any one company or production. Yes, I know that no company is perfect, and there are companies about which I'd be hard-pressed to find a good comment, but this is largely a case of "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all."
This also goes for reviews, but so far we haven't had too much trouble with this. Constructive criticism is fine, but outright bagging is not.
So please remember this in your posting, and have a nice day.
~Julia
