Hats Off…to Sondheim!!

Hats Off Melbourne 2004 is dedicated to the music of the legendary Broadway composer, Stephen Sondheim.

With a phenomenal list of hit shows including A Little Night Music, Into The Woods, Sweeney Todd, and West Side Story to his credit, Stephen Sondheim is the leading light of Broadway and a favourite with Australian audiences.

OzShowbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (OSCEFA) presents a concert which shows off the cream of Melbourne’s theatre, dance and comedy talent. Known for showstopping songs from stars such as Marina Prior and Rhonda Burchmore; dance numbers from headliners from the Australian Ballet; and comedy from most-loved comedians Marty Fields and Glynn Nicholas, Hats Off is a Melbourne institution. Few will forget the amazing Helen Morse in her reading which moved the audience to tears.

With the added thrill of Sondheim’s exciting music and lyrics, Hats Off…to Sondheim!! is going to be a crowd pleaser. And as a loyal supporter of Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, we are offering you a special early bird ticket price.

I would so do the early-bird special if I knew if any other performers had committed to the Melbourne Hats Off - especially since it's Sondheim! if not I'll go to the Sydney one instead - we'll have WWRY and TLK casts, I think.

I'll be there, especially since I missed it last year. I suppose we'll be able to expect some of the Eureka cast to make an appearance as well, perhaps. Only one problem... You didn't say how to get tickets.

Actually, anybody can book tickets now, It's just that they're not telling anybody it's available until Sept 20, except through the OSCEFA mailing list.

Also, The mention of an artist in that description does not even suggest that they'll be there this year. But it's always worth it. Especially for a Sondheim special.

Yeah I emailed them about tickets and the reason they weren't telling anyone except for the OSCEFA was because the online bookings weren't coming online till Sept 20.

But they actually put it online early

Awesome list - definitely know how to make a Sydney gal jealous <g>

I wish they'd finalise the Sydney one - no details have come through for it

ETA: Helen has to sing Send in the Clowns - her version is awesome - unless they get another one of the fine performers to sing it instead <g>
