Yes, that’s right... Debbie Does Dallas has been transformed into one of off-Broadway's newest hit musical comedies.
`Shamelessly silly, shrewdly self- aware and proud of being naughty. Great Fun` The New York Times
Plenty of unique films have been turned into successful musicals over the last few years. Footloose, Saturday Night Fever, The Producers, and Dirty Dancing, just to name a few that have lit up Broadway with their unique perspective on both theatre and film. However, one title has remained elusive. The bittersweet 1978 coming-of-age story Debbie Does Dallas is now Debbie Does Dallas – The Musical, the off-Broadway smash hit.
`Plenty of cheek in this saucy send up` The Australian
When Debbie receives a letter telling her she has qualified for the professional Dallas Cowgirls squad, the only thing that stands between her and the realisation of her dream is the money she needs to get to Dallas. Debbie enlists her team mates to get jobs after school and on weekends to help pay for her trip. Unfortunately the girls quickly realise minimum wage jobs just don't pay enough.
With a boyfriend who makes her choose between her “Job” and her personal life, an `Over friendly` best friend and a middle aged bookstore owner, what is an ambitious cheerleader to do but take charge of her own destiny.
So how will Debbie get to Dallas? What would you do to realise your life’s dream?
Featuring original contemporary musical numbers including `Small Town Girl` and `Ten Dollars Closer,` Debbie Does Dallas is the new cult musical to delight all.
Laughs, music and dance numbers you’ll never forget, this smash Off-Broadway musical-comedy turns the cult adult film classic on its ear and introduces you to a Debbie you never expected!
Please note: this production does not contain any nudity or sex. However, due to the subject matter, some may find this show offensive.
Cast: Lisa Adam, Octavia Barron-Martin, Zoe Ventoura, Georgina Hart, Meagan Caratti, Taylor Schon, David Keene, Richard O'Brien
