A live recording made during Opera Australia's Melbourne Autumn season of our latest Gilbert and Sullivan production, the dazzling double bill of HMS Pinafore and Trial by Jury starring Anthony Warlow and David Hobson will be broadcast by on ABC TV on 18 December 2005 and available on DVD from 1 December 2005. Also being released on 1 December on DVD: The Gondoliers was recorded live at the Sydney Opera House March 2, 1989 and stars David Hobson, Dennis Olsen, Robert Gard and Suzanne Johnston. The Mikado, dubbed “a masterpiece of eccentricity” by London's The Daily Mirror, was recorded live at the Sydney Opera House on February 25th 1987. It features Peter Cousens, Anne-Maree McDonald, Graham Ewer and Heather Begg. And Anthony Warlow, who "radiates star quality" leads the cast in the 1995 production of Patience. Buff  |

Had a advertising brochure (read junk mail ) in the local newspaper today from ABC Shops. The Pinafore/Trial DVD is advertised at $30.95 Buff |

There are quite a few internet DVD sites advertising the DVD as well. Most are cheaper, but some then alos charge you for postage/courier. Devoted DVD has them for $25.45 if you order and pay before 21 November with no postage charge for sending it standard mail (extra for Express Post/international) Altlantic DVD has the same deal but slightly more expensive at $27.95 Buff |

For those who haven't been lucky enough to get this awesome show on DVD yet - It will be shown on ABC TV next Sunday (18 Dec) at 8:35pm.

I've got it on DVD. But I might have to put the TVs at work onto ABC and introduce some REAL culture to my less than worldly colleagues!

My DVD arrived yesterday!! ;D Hopefully I'll get a chance to watch it over the weekend. Buff Well I finally got to watch the DVD just before Christmas. I not seen either of the shows before and really enjoyed them both. The only problem was that some of the words got a bit lost (I don't know that was the fault of the DVD recording or the singers, or both) but it was fairly easy to follow the story. Anthony as the judge was so funny. I wish they had that option where you can swap between the camera angles you wanted. I'd have it on Anthony the whole time just to watch his antics! ;D Buff |
