A Musical Biography of Frederick McCubbin "McCubbin, A Musical Biography of Frederick McCubbin" is a brand new opera/musical by Melbourne composer, Peter Burgess. The piece re-tells the life and times of one of Australia's greatest painters, Frederick McCubbin and is being premiered on Friday February 25th, 2005, a day which also marks the artist's 150th birthday. This special World Premiere Concert Performance will be directed by theatre legend, Martin Croft and will feature the talents of Pratt Prize Winner 2004, Matthew Robinson as Fred. Other cast includes Damian Humbley, Lisa Marie Charalambous, Martin Martini and Sean Weatherly. The concert will feature a live 18-piece orchestra conducted by Peter Brodie and a cast of 30. BMW Edge, Federation Square, Fri 25 Feb 2005 8:30pm GA $65.00 This will require some juggling on my part but there's no way on earth I'm going to miss it ;D And finding out about it came at just the right time; just as I was getting all "damn Sydney has everything" ETA: more about McCubbin himself here...I'd only vaguely heard the name before but now, looking at his works, I can't believe how many of them look familiar! Alright, I am indeed extremely excited now about this
