Yep, another concert.
SOS For Asia
A star-studded concert for the World Vision Asian Tsunami Appeal
The company of MAMMA MIA!, Julie Anthony, Simon Gallaher, and more as the stars come out for SOS FOR ASIA, a star-studded concert for the World Vision Asian Tsunami Appeal
The company of MAMMA MIA!, Julie Anthony, Simon Gallaher, and some of the biggest stars in town will be performing at a special charity concert on Sunday, 6 February at 7 p.m., in the Lyric Theatre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre.
They will present a night of classic show tunes, comedy, jazz, rock, rhythm and blues and ballads. Silvie Paladino, Jennifer Vuletic and Emma Powell who play the hilarious Donna and the Dynamos in MAMMA MIA!, will perform their show stopper It’s Raining Men! and, says, Louise Withers, Associate Producer of MAMMA MIA!, ‘we’re drawing on the terrific talent pool from the show.
‘The whole MAMMA MIA! company has come together over this one. And we’re delighted that some of the biggest names in the business have joined us. And the show is supported by QPAC and staff, who are donating their services and their expertise so it’s another example of how quickly and how well Australians do things when we get together in a good cause.’
‘We’ll have a raffle on the night for terrific prizes – a night at the Sofitel Brisbane, a year’s membership at Southbank Gym, a huge hamper form Myer, a Lush You’re a Star gift box, and so on. It’s going to be a memorable concert, one of those nights where showbiz lets down its skirts, opens up its heart and sends everyone home on a high. And the best part is that all the funds raised will go to World Vision.’
Brisbane producer Paul Dellit says, ‘Between the MAMMA MIA! people and my office we’ve got a shopping list that includes everyone who is anyone performing in Brisbane at the time, and I’m sending out an SOS to some other big names in Queensland entertainment. I’m confident that they will come to our aid: it’s a cause that has touched the hearts of us all.’
