FOR IMMEDIATE MEDIA RELEASE
A Wave of Love
for the work of Red Cross Australia and
The Quake and Tsunamis Appeal
“Aussie Battlers Unite!”
As the events of December 26, 2004 unfolded, two Melbourne performing arts identities, Will Conyers (Director, Musical Director, Performer and Green Room Awards President) and Billie Wilde (Vocalist) immediately went into action and produced an amazing 2 single CD: THE WAVE OF LOVE (Various artists – see below) and Bonus Track, ONLY LOVE featuring Billie Wilde.
Both knew that other songs would be produced with massive corporate support by artists with more prominence, but both Conyers and Wilde were undeterred knowing the Australian public’s desire to support the real Aussie battlers doing a good deed from their own wallets. A video clip is now being produced and will go to air shortly. Online retail has now been negotiated. (See below).
‘The Wave of Love’ is a moving, anthemic celebration of the work of the Australian Red Cross and, in particular, that of Australian Red Cross Region 26 (South Gippsland). ‘The Wave of Love’ brought together over 50 singers and musicians including: Denise Drysdale (TV celebrity), Matt Hetherington (’Hair’ and ‘The Full Monty’), Damian Aylward (’We Will Rock You’), Meredith Chipperton (’Hair’), Anne Phelan (’Prisoner’), Babs Mac Millan (’Prisoner’), Maureen Andrew (’Saturday Night Fever’), Adam Lubicz (’We will Rock You’), Betty Bobbitt (’Prisoner’) and players from The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It also introduces the astounding vocals of Adrian Li Donni. The entire recording was conducted by the composer, Conyers.
‘Only Love’ immediately transports us to the regions affected through Evri Evripidou’s instrumentation and Wilde’s astounding vocal ability. "It has often been said that it takes a major disaster to unite people and these recent events have been a classic example. At least, it does show that "as a people we unite to lend a helping hand". It is my dream that we could stay that caring, giving and united and that ‘love will find the way’”, said Ms Wilde.
Recording commenced on January 6, 2005 and production was completed by January 14 at Audio Craft Studios, Melbourne. All services were volunteered and production was sponsored anonymously.
A ‘Wave of Love’ Fundraising Concert was mounted in Gippsland on January 15, 2005 (Region 26 of the Australian Red Cross) and boasted the likes of Barry Crocker, Maria Venuti, Frank Ifield, Ben Nicholas (Neighbours), Julie O’Reilly (The Producers), Martin Croft (Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera), Helen Noonan (Phantom of the Opera, Recital) and Melbourne rock band Paperstreet. Local artists were also a feature on the bill. Billie Wilde premiered ‘Only Love’ and Will Conyers sang his ‘Wave of Love’ for the first and only time.
“Performing artists don’t often have fat wallets, but their fat hearts give of their ability and skills selflessly. So many artists let us know that they were SO grateful for the opportunity to DO something for the recording or the concert”, Conyers commented.

I hope that this CD goes someway to support the work of the Red Cross: that symbol that transcends all language, that means safety, clothing, shelter, nurturement, neutrality, recovery, medical aid, and, ...peace in this world.
I hope, too, that THE WAVE OF LOVE becomes an anthem for that indomitable Aussie spirit that supports without compromise at times of crisis. Aussies are a Wave of Love as a people after all.”
