So the thing with Wicked is Spelling Bee is right next door. And the thing with me is I have an accent a mile wide. And someone just said to me that they loved the idea of my trip, and wanted themselves to go to Melbourne next year to see how WE do Spelling Bee... To which I could reply nothing other than, I didn't know we were actually doing it, and they said they just heard from someone in the Broadway cast who sounded pretty certain. Really? (lol...this was last night before I went to bed - I hit preview rather than post and then turned the monitor off and didn't realise until NOW! *ditz*)

The love folks at broadwayworld answered me Lookity: www.mtc.com.au/whatson.aspx?eventID=73I had no interest in seeing the show here and frankly, audience participation scares the crap outta me, but I saw the cast at Broadway on Broadway and also the Katrina benefit and they looked really fun. Marina and Christen though - wow!

I'm guessing whatever audience participation there is will take place amongst the subscribers who will snap up all the best seats.
Just from what I saw on the Tony Awards, I'm looking forward to this. I'm trying to drag my brother along, he hasn't been in a theatre since Beauty and the Beast when he was 11.

Definitely beyond time, then. My brothers are lost causes, I'm afraid. I've tried!
And I did manage to get one super good seat during Urinetown, so it can be done. Most likely fluke, though.

Actually, from what I've read, what seats you have doesn't matter in regards to the audience participation one whit. If you're interested in being a speller, you put your name down and they ask you all some questions, I guess to figure out who's going to be the most fun up on stage that night I think they notify the four (I think it's four?) before the show starts, and you just go to your regular seat and ready yourself. From what I've read, anyway - not having seen the show, I don't know for certain, obviously!

Word is that Simon Gleeson and David Campbell will also be in the cast, though this doesn't seem to be official yet.

Hmm. Magda Szubanski is playing William Barfee. Interesting.

Okay, so subscribers are paying $70 for additional tickets to Spelling Bee, so I'm assuming single tickets are going to be more than that. For $80 I can be a CentreStage member and for an extra $10 get my complimentary ticket upgraded to Spelling Bee. Then I can get $25 tickets to Wednesday matinees (which it just happens I can go to) and get to go to dress rehearsals and other stuff.
Thinking music.

So now we have:
Marina Prior Christen O'Leary Magda Szubanski Natalie Mendoza David Campbell Natalie O'Donnell Bert LaBonte
Who am I missing?
Apparantly, Prior's character is the main one in charge of humiliating the audience volunteers.
There's an interview with Natalie Mendoza in Black and White magazine. Everyone says they read it for the articles, but after this one, and the recent one on Joss Whedon, it's actually true.
No really.

Simon Gleeson?
Got my ticket for the 25th the other day. Tues/Weds are $39 or so for student/under 26. Can't remember which now. But very nice.

Dumb question when does this open in Melbourne? I'll be down for a week in January and if it coincides I might have to see it

I *think* the 14th of January it begins previews. Opening night's like the 18th or something

I *think* the 14th of January it begins previews. Opening night's like the 18th or something See Sally trying to pretend that maybe she doesn't know everything. Both of those dates are exactly right. In answer to my own question, I missed Tyler Coppin and Tim Wright. Simon doesn't appear to be in it. (That means Sally doesn't know everything. Nothing I say stays true for long.) So Sally, you're going to be there on the 25th. I assume evening. What row would one want to avoid if they didn't want to bump into you? You know, just hypothetically. ;D James

Well, you'd have to avoid row M of the stalls that evening, if you didn't want to bump into me, but if avoiding a whole row is far too difficult, then just steer clear of seat 21
