I have to agree that Les Mis can be an extremely frustrating book to get through, but I think it's worth it at the end. And I agree, Talissa - the Fantine section rocks, and, in my opinion, is one of the best transferred from the book to the musical, as it's actually covered, and in a way that doesn't take up too much time.
The sewers and the Waterloo stuff were a bit hard to get through, though, if I remember correctly. (Last time I read the book was three years ago.)
