Just so everyone is clear, I've moved all the previous threads for Broadway @ Bedtime to the new sub-board. Buff

Ah, but with nuts you can almost pretend it's good for you But then, colourful things are also fun. Homemade cookies are better than any others, though.

Ah, but with nuts you can almost pretend it's good for you But I hate nuts! Homemade cookies are better than any others, though. Mrs Buff makes yummy cookies - double choc temptations! Buff Jnr is a bickie bandit like his dad! Walks into the panty cupboard and grabs a whole packet and says "Bickie!" ;D Buff At the rate this thread is going, we'll have to moderate each other and tell ourselves to take this to the Backstage board!

But I hate nuts! You're excused, then Now those sound brilliant. And good to hear Buff Jnr is keeping up such fine traditions ;-) And a small digression is always fine! Anyone who's read any of Victor Hugo's writing will agree. Not that those digressions are exactly small.

And a small digression is always fine! Anyone who's read any of Victor Hugo's writing will agree. Not that those digressions are exactly small. lol. At one point I skipped through about 40 pages looking for the name of any character from the musical. (I'd have settled for Feuilly) Then when Epoinine died, I decided it had taken up enough years of my life and I didn't care enough about the rest of the story to go on. James

Hey, there's nothing wrong with Feuilly! My favourite part has always been and will always been towards the start, the earlier years of Valjean and the Fantine section. How could anyone not love those two characters? I also adore, though, being a hopeless linguist , the section on Argot.

I managed to get through the whole book ;D I'm an avid reader, but I must say, even I struggled to keep going. By the end it was more a case "I will finish this book even if it kills me!" I always remember with fondness the 40 page discourse on the history of the sewers! Buff

I love some of those digressions in Les Mis! I always find the history of the Bishop, argot and the sewers immensely interesting The only bit I struggle with is part of the section on the convent.

I found the Bishop bit hard to get through, but that was when I had just started it so it was even more frustrating. I liked the sewers thing though!
