Thought I'd move news of this production here since it's now out of the audition stage The cast was announced in the local newspaper on Tuesday. Reb Tevye will be played by a guy who has done Jean Valjean twice in community theatre. I saw him in the first production and he was excellent. Golde his wife will be another local singing identity who most recently directed "42nd Street". She has also sung regularly at Carols by Candlelight. I'm looking forward meeting the full cast in May and rehearsals starting in June. Buff

The first cast get-together is this Sunday. We'll be picking up scripts and scores and getting information on rehearsals and whatever the director decides to tell us I'd forgotten how exited I get about performing. I can't wait for Sunday and then for rehearsals to start! Buff

There's a couple of Launceston Musical Society people - Danny Gibson, Leonie Crowden, Mary Lees. They're the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I'll post a full list once I have a copy. We had a getting-to-know-you session yesterday. The leads got their scripts and scores. The director put people in their family groups so the people could meet and start working on their "family background". Buff

Main Character RolesThe Constable - Dean Cocker Funny story time. On Sunday I was collecting for the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. Knocked on a door - guy answered and gave a donation. When I asked him his name for the receipt he said "Dean Cocker". "You're not in Fiddler on the roof, are you?" says I. "I am!" says he, rather surprised. He hadn't made it to the first cast get together so we hadn't met. Apparently he didn't get the Email about that get together or the next one this coming Sunday, so he wrote the details on the back of his receipt. Talk about a small world. Although I must admit, Launceston is like that so often. Buff

We're a week and a half away from opening and I mus admit, I'm getting nervous. One scene in particular is causing all sorts of grief - Motel & Tzeitel's wedding. An argument is meant to occur but people don't know when their lines happen, so it's really disjointed. There are some how are still trying to get their lines right Some scenes are really good, but others aren't. Buff

We hit the theatre for the first time yesterday so we had a technical run with all the sets, lights, sound effects etc. All considered it wasn't too bad. Dress rehearsals tonight and Tuesday then our first audience on Wednesday. ;D Buff

You're in the yellow, right Buff? The pictures aren't really good enough to see your face - I just guessed based on how I know the plot goes. Still, it looks good!

The Launceston Players have updated their website to include one photo & story and the review from the local newspaper: www.launcestonplayers.com/fiddler/press.htmlWhen I get time ( ) and learn what to do, I'll set up a website with some pictures of the show. We were given a CD Rom with over 500 pics on it! Buff
