Well, guess what our choir's doing as a semi-staged musical next year? (So hard, isn't it, since I told you in the subject line ) Anyway, it should be fantastic. I'm not sure about the differences between a semi-staged musical and a full one, but hopefully I should have a decent chance of getting a lead, hopefully Joanne. Just one question. Is her high C that one that's soaring above the "instrumental" interlude in We Beseech Thee? And I assume she also sings the top "love"s. And even if I don't get a part, it'll be stacks of fun. And, at the moment we're doing gospel music, and included in that are Day by Day and Prepare Ye *g* The best thing is that we've been allowed to entirely choose what we sing, and at the end of Prepare Ye we get to improvise to our heart's content Just thought I'd share ~Julia

Is her high C that one that's soaring above the "instrumental" interlude in We Beseech Thee? And I assume she also sings the top "love"s. Generally Joanne does sing the top C. It depends on the other singers in the group. Our Joanne was a soprano and was perfect for the role. Our Peggy was also a soprano with a bigger range than Joanne so Peggy sung ther C in "We Beseech Thee". As for the part, our MD chose who sung which parts. Sopranos usually had the top lines, bass/baritones the bottom and the altos/tenors fought over the rest The best thing is that we've been allowed to entirely choose what we sing, and at the end of Prepare Ye we get to improvise to our heart's content That would be so much fun. A couple of times in rehearsal I would do that, especially in "We Beseech Thee" in the loud verse after the "instrumental" section. I miss that show Buff
