In a newsletter that arrived earlier this week, they Society are well into planning. They have already purchase the revolving stage. No word on any applicants for the above jobs, though. Buff

Heard on the grapevine that the group has canned the show, after paying a small fortune on set, a director etc.... Rumour has it they are not doing a show now but instead a small concert featuring the highlights from some of their previous shows.. One hopes they arent heading back to the good old days... blue rinse set singing G&S to audiences over 50. Shame to see a group who had finally matured into a thriving gutsy theatre company putting on quality theatre slipping back into the realms of mediocrity.

Just an interesting thought... i understand that the committee decided to drop the show... isnt that just a little unconstitutional... given that it was voted unanimously at a general meeting over 18 months ago.... i hardly think the membership would look too kindly to a committee who has sat on a constitutionally elected production for so long before dumping it because it all got too hard.. and they left it til too late to get the thing off the ground.... surely the decision to cancel a show has to be put to the same membership before such a decision is made... thankfully there's some money in the coffers from the last 3-4 years successes.. hate to see money being wasted on a show that doesnt see the light of day!

Apparentky it all got too hard for the commitee... pity that they didn't talk to their Director about someof their issues. He apparently had solutions to most of their issues... such as finding a new Musical Director, a Stage Manager, A costumier (costumes were being sourced from Geelong anyway!!)... etc etc...
Now LMS have no major show in their 25th Year, will put on a bit of a concert... have a dinner... and trott out "Little Shop" and undoubtably the same tired old "plant" props that have seen the light of day in every other production of this show.

hey mitzi, is it a joint production of Little Shop with one of the colleges? find it hard to believe theyre treading into the territory of shows typically performed by high schools and colleges.... i remember at a general meeting a year or so ago, certain shows were basically canned because they were "done to death" by schools ( ie. Oliver & Chicago)despite the fact that both would be great done as "adult" versions!

Heya chaps - new here, and stoked by the amount of local Launnie content. Lotsa stuff i had no idea about. No Les Mis this year? Now they're doing Little Shop or some such? Buggered if I'm auditioning for that.
anyway - good to see such a totally active board. Looking forward to hanging around and putting in my two-bobs-worth.
Cheers mb

Welcome aboard MB! And there is a bit, isn't there? Almost feels as though the Launnies are taking over sometimes

Buggered if I'm auditioning for that. Little Shop was always on the agenda, as LMS do one main show in the middle of the year, and a smaller production towards then end of the year. And there is a bit, isn't there? Almost feels as though the Launnies are taking over sometimes We're trying! Hear L'ton college is doing HAIR as their musical this year. Michael - It sounds as though you have a wealth of talent to offer the lton scene. Danny is a great Director and has really helped the LMS come of age - you should be in his Little Shop. Anyway guys, I am fed up with all this Les Mis crap ... lets get on with it!

Little Shop always on the agenda??!! It has not been mentioned at an AGM or Special Meeting as being "on the agenda" to my knowledge and I've been to almost all of them in recent years.

Maybe "always on the agenda" was a poor choice of words. "Les Mis" was to be the main show for the year, and the list of options for the smaller show at the end of the year included "Little Shop". Buff
