For the ‘First Time’ in the 50th Year!!!!
Babirra Music Theatre Presents ‘Carmen – The Musical’
In a first for Australian Amateur Theatre, Babirra have obtained the rights to produce 'Carmen - the Musical' (an adapted version of the ‘Bizet’ opera).
As well as being able to present this fabulous show, Babirra are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. This is an amazing achievement for a group of enthusiasts who gathered to form a Church Choir in 1956! Just look where we are now!
As it is our 50th anniversary, Babirra are pulling out all stops to make ‘Carmen - The Musical’ THE show to see!
Men are fascinated by the teasing and strong-willed gypsy Carmen, and she knows it. One of them is the soldier Don Jose, who deserts his lover and throws away his career while under Carmen's spell. But as Carmen tires of him and looks instead to a glamorous bullfighter, she finds herself caught in a lethal trap of passion.
With thrilling melodies that everyone will recognize, exotic settings and costumes, Babirra’s finest cigarette girls, soldiers and toreadors and a full orchestra, this stellar production promises to live up to the high standards that have been produced by Babirra Music Theatre Inc. over the past 50 years.
So please join us for all the passion, excitement and colour of the original opera in this English version specially adapted for musical theatre.

We're well into rehearsals, and it's really looking to be a brilliant show. It's the best production team I've worked with, and the cast's amazing. Besides, you get to see our own Ryan attempting a Spanish accent
