The Victorian College of the Arts is presenting a WORLD PREMIERE SHOW!! "UP" is a brand new music theatre show written by Eddie Perfect and is being performed by the 2nd year students of the Music Theatre Foundation Course, (the same bunch who did 'Into the Woods' last year!) It's a fantastic show, addressing a large variety of issues that the youth of today have to deal with in the setting of a suburban backyard. In my opinion, as one of the performers, the feature of this show has to be the range of music genres that are showcased in the space of an hour and a half! Eddie has explored many musical styles including pop, gospel, jazzy-blues, classical, barbershop...there's even a song with a 7/4 time signature in there!! There is a song for every single person in the audience.

this post is a little late but i just saw the show up in frankston and loved it. Great tunes and stories that everyone can relate to. Stephen McDowell was fantastic, such a change from what we saw him do with Jack in 'woods' last year. His partner kate something for the the 7/4 song which i have forgotten the name of (the refugee song) was so powerful. they worked extremely well together. Other highlights for me include Jason Deakin and ensemble with Why not leave? and the prosititute was excellent as well, this girl is very versaltile. watch out for her. Didn't like some of the random monologues but still thoroughly enjoyed the peice
