BROADWAY AT BEDTIME
9-11pm EVERY Sunday Night on JOY 94.9
or on the Web www.joy.org.au
NEXT WEEK: AN EVENING WITH CAROL CHANNING
We are thrilled to announce that BROADWAY AT BEDTIME will present it’s evening with this Broadway legend next week, March 11, 2007 from 9pm.
Carol Channing is synonymous with the role of ‘Dolly Levi’/ in Jerry Herman’s, HELLO DOLLY! She created the role of ‘Mehitabel’ in the radio recording of ARCHY AND MEHITABEL and her performance as ‘Lorelei Lee’ in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES is legend.
Ms Channing spent an all-too-generous amount of time with B@B host, WILL CONYERS and, on the 11th, he will be joined by co-commentator, KRISTEN KEAM.
Radio – not to be missed!
FAREWELL SIDESHOW ALLEY
While most of our funded State theatre companies CONTINUE to purchase overseas music theatre product, the finely-crafted and meticulously-worked, SIDESHOW ALLEY appears to remain ignored. We are yet to see a lifeline being thrown to this worthy survivor.
Regular listeners will know the SIDESHOW coverage that B@B has been honoured to bring to you. To all the cast, crew and creatives who made this important piece of music theatre possible, B@B ‘dips the lid’ to you.
Thank you – SIDESHOW ALLEY.

KOOKABURRA: THE FIRST OF OUR PIPPIN CAST INTERVIEWS: SHARON MILLERCHIP
Sharon Millerchip has forged an enviable position in the Australian Musical Theatre template. ‘Demeter’ in CATS, ‘Belle’ in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, indefatigable member of COMBO FIASCO, the original ‘Meg’ in PHANTOM and ‘Sonia’ in THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG.
Sharon is the real stuff and she chats to Will about playing Catherine in PIPPIN on B@B this Sunday.
JOHN DOYLE’S PRODUCTION OF STEPHEN SONDHEIM’S COMPANY ON BROADWAY
When BROADWAY AT BEDTIME first went to air, we celebrated the John Doyle production of Stephen Sondheim’s SWEENEY TODD. Doyle makes a specialty of casting not ‘Triple’ but, ‘Quadruple Threat’ performers: they must sing, dance, act AND play at least one instrument...and play it very well!
So, this weekend we speak LIVE to Matt Castle who is making his Broadway Debut as ‘Peter ‘with John Doyle’s treatment of COMPANY AND we play you some tracks from the show itself!
That’s right! The score of COMPANY played by THE CAST!
MAGNORMOS
Artistic Director and Manager, AARON JOYNER, has some great news! He’ll be in the studio, too
THE AUSSIE WHO’S GOING INTO THE DROWSY CHAPERONE ON THE WEST END
Mark Dickinson was doing really well in Australia but then he decided to go to the West End without a chaperone. Well, he’s got one now! Mark will be in the Original London Cast and he’s in the studio LIVE with Will & PJ.
‘DRAGGING OUT’ THE SOUND OF MUSIC FOR THE MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL?
“What’s so fearsome about that?”
When Broadway at Bedtime was told that the Julie Andrews classic was going to hit the stages of the Comedy Festival, we had to find out why! And Amanda Monroe and Kris Del Vase will be in the studio! “Oh Captain!”
HAPPILY HEARING FROM HEDWIG
Broadway at Bedtime touches base with this Green Room Award-nominated phenomenon.
