Hello all, Just thought I'd promote the Jon English rock musical Paris which opens on Jan 29th at the National Theatre St.Kilda. as I happen to be performing in it as Patroclus. This is the world premiere season and it could be the only chance to see this great show. For more details check out the web site www.stellaentertainment.com.au Cheers, Steve.

Oooh, you're Patroclus?! That's a great role. Hey, say hi to Michael (Achilles) for me. He was Thenardier in my Les Mis. He's going to be brilliant, I think. I'm definitely going to see Paris. It's such a fun show

I will say hello to Michael. He is playing Achilles which in the show is my best friend. He has a great voice and will be brilliant as will everyone else. The standard throughout the entire cast and production is very high and I'm sure that anyone who comes to see the show will not be dissapointed. Steve.

Ben Spaull is playing Paris?!?! I'm SOOO going! Ben played Simon in our production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and my goodness Ben is a superstar! He was the funkiest Simon you've ever seen! I'd see anything that boy did! Please tell him Sarah Eldridge sends her love (if he even remembers who I am, it has been four years since JCS!)

Hi All Just wanted to say how thrilled I am to see the Musical Paris up and running. I have had the soundtrack since its first release back a loooong time ago and have only just heard about the Stage production! I think its well overdue and can only hope the upcoming film release of Troy will stir peoples interest in the story even further and promote a state wide tour. (I live in Perth, and we get things....eventually) Carolyn (Talissa, this is your Mum saying hello) ;D

Bwuce! So nice to have you drop in Well, hopefully the professional production will be as likely as Jon English seems to believe, because though it wouldn't be the biggest hit to reach Australian theatres, I don't think it would be a disaster. Especially with some of the names that would be able to be cast. Lana and I were trying to think up a cast last night.

I really do hope it gets a professional production. I guess I have been listening to the original soundtrack for so long Doc Neeson will always remain in my head as Achillies, always imagined him strutting around the stage (showing my age?) But whoever goes to see the show, I would love some details. I even found some of my staging notes in the booklet with the cds - yes frustrated staging director for many years here - and have often wondered what they did with Helen during Long Time Coming. Girl-standing-on-beach-singing for 3.35 always seemed to need a little something extra to me.

It was interesting seeing it on stage, certainly, but a lot of the actors impressed me very much. And I think if you'd had a chance to see this Achilles, you wouldn't have been disappointed. He was great. One thing that was particularly interesting was that some of the music was different. I wrote up the act one changes, as far as I could pick them here; www.livejournal.com/users/talissarocsham/152668.htmlThe act two changes are still coming, as soon as I'm rid of Lana (She says hi, btw ) I'm also doing a staging report. I've done act one so far, but again act two is coming. (Steve can correct me if I've made any terrible mistakes. I'm doing this purely from memory) www.livejournal.com/users/talissarocsham/152013.htmlAnd yes, Long Time Coming is pretty much girl-standing-on-beach. Although there was a very nice bit in the last verse in which Menelaus comes on stage and sees her, so when she notices him, she goes over to greet him. Otherwise, though...

To all those who have seen the show, Thanks for coming. You should have let me know and I would have kept an eye out for you afterwards. If you want more info you can go to www.stellaentertainment.com.au which will give you a cast list etc. There are also links to Jon English's site where you can download the script etc. Tallissa, I have had a look at your write up of the synopsis and staging etc and I'm very impressed with the detail. There are a few inaccuracies but not bad! To answer you question why there was no Sinon.About 4 weeks out the actor playing him became very ill and had to pull out. The director decided that at that stage it would be wrong to recast and so his role was omitted and his lines etc. given to the other two actors. If you have any questions regarding Paris I would be happy to answer them for you. Steve.

Thank you thank you for the detailed report ;D After waiting 14 years for the damn thing to get staged its nice to hear all the details. I think its amazing I travelled from Perth to the East Coast in January and will travel there again in March and May....and they stage it in February!! I am determined to see it somehow, thats why I am hoping for further productions. Well Done Buzz, Patroclus is a great role and you get to sing 'what price a friend' and do the whole hero bit ;D oh...and Hi Lana

So I was browsing Theatre People and came across this....
Steve, are you in a position to confirm or deny this? I really really really want to believe it's true, because it's a brilliant sight for Paris as a show, and your cast does deserve it, but I'm not quite so willing to believe it without any other backup.

Julia, Actually what you read was true. Due to such a great response and terrific reviews We as a cast were asked last week if we would be available for a weeks run at Her Majesties in late March. Unfortunately after further discussions it was decided that Paris was not developed enough at this stage. (Not a reflection on the performances or staging/direction but in the actual writing.) Steve.
