Thanks for bringing that over - I saw it really quickly on the news on Friday but was running late to leave for Canberra so missed seeing all the people at the launch, only saw 4 or 5 of the names listed above. I want to go to the damn thing *sigh* but depends on the prices of the tickets as to whether I can afford to go to it. Only good thing is it is on the week after, the week from hell for me at uni

Isn't it dangerous to have so much of Australia's musical theatre talent in the one room?
They should move it to Melbourne to be safe.
What? I like my logic.

Heh. It's been a while since we had that good a talent in the same room excluding Hats Off. The last time was Raise the Roof last year. I'll guarantee that some members of Dusty will be added to the list of performers, since it's being staged at the Lyric Theatre which is where the show is being performed. So I'm hoping Mitchell comes and performs since he always kicks butts in benefits / shows like these

Hey, wouldn't it be great if this was recorded? CD, DVD, I'm not fussy. ;D
(I'm pathetically optimistic, but I'm not fussy.)

It was brilliant. A few hiccups, but that's to be expected with such a short rehearsal period. The stars did shine that night!

I couldn't access The Australian article, but what do you you object to in the couple of lines you reprint? We do have a lot of cheap easy compilations and adaptions which often are disposable and not very good. The writer didn't say all (were).

To quote Andy Capp (I don't know why), "there's no lack of talent. Just a lack of talent that can recognize talent". The quote effectively throws blame at creatives that belongs, not entirely, but mostly with the producers and people spending the available money on the compilation stuff. But then I suppose you were asking for Julia's opinion. James

The important phrase was "absence of the inspired". It is implying that we have no talented writers, and I know that isn't true.
