I totally disagree. I think the plot of Wicked is brilliant - how they explain everything in the Wizard of Oz story and how everything links up. It explains how the scarecrow and tin man came to be.
As for the character of the scarecrow not matching up between the two musicals, I have semi wondered about that too. But really, if Fiyero wanted to help Elphaba, maybe he was going along with the good guys to get some leverage or spy. You never know.
I never really had any trouble, from what I remember, of getting the point of No Good Deed and Fiyero's transformation. He was being crucified in the background and she was singing a song, while reading the Grimmerie, saying let him never die ... and plus a crucified silhouette looks like a scarecrow in a field.
You know, I pretty much think Wicked is THE BEST MUSICAL EVER OMG! It is, really. You know it!
