Inga Gilchrist from MX gave the show four stars and the following review;
The spirit of Paris Hilton graced the stage at the State Theatre last night. As a party-loving blonde heiress (Tamsin Carroll) becomes champagne-sozzled and disgraces herself with a commoner she's just met (Marty Fields), events have a familiar ring.
But unlike Hilton, the dialogue is deliberately witty.
High Society is wall-to-wall showbiz, with the Cole Porter songs made famous by Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby and a razor-sharp script.
All froth and bubble, Carroll floats through two acts nailing every song, but never quite makes the part her own.
She's well supported by Simon Burke as her pot-stirring ex-husband, a coat-tailed chorus line and the sweet sight of a full band on stage.
While the props and sets are deliberately low-key, watch out for the scene-stealing performances of Gary Down as the drunk and lusty Uncle Willie, and Scott Irwin as Carroll's insufferably straight fiance.

That would be the first time in a hell of a long time where a reviewer hasn't praised Tamsin <g>
There's a review in The Age and HS today but I can't be bothered downloading them since I'll be in Melbourne today I can buy them instead!

I'm not entirely sure how much credit I want to give that review, considering she didn't seem to see anything more to Tamsin's portrayal than "froth and bubbles." I wonder whether she managed to entirely miss the fact that Tracy Lord is a character who undergoes immense change during the 30 hours of the show.

Meh. I thought she was a perfect Tracy. Not that I am biased I mean I was comparing her more to Katharine Hepburn than to Grace Kelly and she was so much better than Grace Kelly and definitely on level with Hepburn, and in some ways better. For one, she seemed more human, more warm, by the end, than Hepburn's Tracy. Tamsin's Tracy grew a lot more than any other, which is half the point of the character anyway...to be loved, not worshipped!

Wow, it didn't feel that long! lol well she is drunk or sobering up for half of the 30 hours - so that would explain why it doesn't seem like that long
