So far there's a rumour Chess will be part of the 2007 season. If so, it'll be very interesting to see which version they decide to go with and how they approach it. It'd have to be done in concert, which at least should disguise some of the plot weaknesses. At any rate, whatever the shows, the dates have been announced, so you can start making your plans. July 18 to 22 August 22 to 26 October 3 to 7 The season should be officially announced in April. At least there's plenty to keep us busy until then

Very excited to hear about "Chess" - this is one of the first musicals I ever loved. No idea how they'd cast it, but we'll see. Where did you hear about the dates? The website doesn't make mention of them.
Can't wait for Season 2007.

If you're a subscriber, you get a lovely TPC Chrissie card - the dates for 2007 are on that

So, to compile the rumours (and bring them back into the right topic) we have:
Sweet Charity Chess Damn Yankees
Which for me is good for broadening my knowledge, but not so good for being able to discuss them beforehand.
Yonkers, can I ask why you think Damn Yankees is a "strange choice"?

Ok, I think it a strange choice because it was a major flop when it was first done here by JCW's in the early 60's. The show is peppered with references and centred around the game of baseball which at that time was fairly unknown. Williamson's bought the show pretty much as it was by the same composer and lyricist as The Pajama Game (Ross/Adler) which they had had a huge success with four years earlier. Maybe todays audiences know enough about baseball now to appreciate it, then again it is only for a handful of performances and they do have a subscription base to fall back on.

I think we have a reasonable knowledge of baseball, but I don't know if we know any more than they did in the 60s. We've all seen plenty of baseball movies though haven't we? Without having wathced much baseball I know terms like 3 strikes, 4 balls, 9 innings, 7th inning stretch, pinch hitter, curve ball, etc.
I think I'll do alright.

One of these things is not like the others.
In terms of accuracy, that is.

Accentuate, I have no affiliation with them whatsoever. I just have my ear to the ground (via reliable sources). It is you who sounds as though you are an employee of the company and that I am stealing your thunder by letting the cat out of the bag prior to an official announcement. I thought you'd be grateful for these crumbs I throw you.

Thankyou for the crumbs. For someone so disinterested in the company, you sure keep that ear VERY close to the ground about what it is they are doing.
