Good luck! Let us know how it goes!
I was thinking of auditioning but I'm leaving on April 19 so it'd be a waste of their time and mine.

Well here’s what happened with my audition. I had developed a throat, eye & nose infection on Thursday but wasn’t feeling too bad on Saturday. The panel consisted of Director (knew her from Les Miserables – Executive Producer), Musical Director (a good friend, her sister is married to my brother and she was MD for Godspell) and Stage Manager (was Stage Manager in Les Miserables). When we had arrived we had been give a couple of pages with several monologues on them. We had to choose one to perform for them. Firstly we had to read it as if we were in the theatre so everyone could here very clearly. Then read it again as if we were saying it to a child. Finally, I was asked to read only the first line (as they realised I was under the weather) in an extremely loud voice, but without shouting. I then got to sing. I had chosen “Wick” from The Secret Garden. Both the accompanist and the MD had played it (not an easy piano part) so they had a discussion as to who would play it for me. I sung through the first part and they stopped me, as they were happy with what I had done. I was happy because the second half is the more difficult. They then asked if I knew the song “Miracle of Miracles” from Fiddler (I had written down that I wanted the role of Motel.) I casually said “ A bit” not telling them that I had got the score out of the local library to practice! I sang through most of that song and did OK. Lastly they asked me to read the monologue again as if I was the character Motel. I’ll be extremely surprised if I don’t get a call-back, but as to the role ….. I’ll have to wait and see. Buff

The call back went well. The good news is that I'll have a role, but the bad news is that I don't know which one yet. It will either be Motel or Perchik. They have another guy they are auditioning, but he couldn't be there last night. There is another call back (for the whole cast, not just leads) on Saturday morning and the other guy and I will be taken aside and sorted out. The director said she was leaning toward Perchik for me but would wait and see on Saturday. Either way, it will be my biggest role to date so I'm happy. I spent most time singing with the ladies auditioning for the daughter roles to see how are voices matched. I knew most of them so it was fairly comfortable. I also got to have a go at "Miracle of Miracles" and Perchiks song (I think it's called "I have everything" :? ) Now I wait again! Buff

As I said, I'm Perchik! Saturday's call back was the whole cast. I'm not sure if they are going to cull anyone, but based on the numbers I doubt it. We were taught a small part of "Sunrise, Sunset" and got to sing that over and over The MD is a friend of mine so she got me to sing with the different guys parts to help each group learn their part. There were quite a few who couldn't hold the part once I changed  After a bit of practice, it started to sound alright, though. We'll get official letter after Easter and start rehearsing early June. Buff
