I just came back from seeing Mamma Mia, and I must say I'm impressed. I saw it with my Mum and her two best friends, and it was a little scary seeing them sing and dance in their seats. But still definitely worth the $75 and the burning of my retina's. I know alot of people complained about the actress who played Donna, Margi di Ferranti, but I thought she did a pretty decent job. Not the best singing voice I've ever heard, but it really suited the character especially during some big belt notes of 'The Winner Takes it All.' And her fantastic acting pretty much made up for the singing. Kellie Rode as Sophie was an extremely good all round. Excessively perky, but it suited the role so I just cringed and admitted her goodness to myself. Emma Powell and Jenny Vuletic as Rosie and Tanya were brilliant. Both great singers and fantastic comic timing, and being such contrasts in body shapes made their numbers very humourous. Sam (Bruce Roberts) had the best voice I would say, his dancing was absolutely terrible but it was funny too watch and actually fitted quite well. Very well done in all, I think the main attraction about it was how the songs were interwoven but the entire show was done very well. Best show I've seen in awhile, (which doesn't say alot because I've seen little.) I was bored, as you can probably tell.

It sounds like a fun night! Thanks for the review.
Did you get a program? Would you be able to type out the cast list, if you did? I'm just curious as to whether there's anyone I know in it.

Unfortunately not, I'm a stingy person. But I'm pretty sure a mate bought one, I'll try and scab hers and type up the cast list for you. (I'm actually interested in seeing it myself.)

I'm so excited, I'm going to Adelaide for a conference in the first week of Jan, so I'm going to be able to see Mamma Mia again I hope! Damion Scarcella is in it now, so I'm only going to go if he's onstage! I've seen it twice in Melbourne, so I can't justify spending stacks of money if he's not on, but if he is, I'M SO THERE! *shreak*
Okay, I'll calm down now!

Hey Eowyn.... Sun Park played Ali in the last cast...It's now being played by Natalie Alexopolous. I saw Mamma Mia in Perth too and thought Margi wasn't fantastic but that Kellie Rode was SO strong! Apparently she is just a machine and never takes shows off. Good to see! MC

What did it remind you of Julia???
MC - I LOVE Margi! FAME just wasn't the same when she left, I would have LOVED to have seen Margi and Maria Mercedes do the "Teachers Argument". Two powerful women with extremely fantastic voices!

Hehe @ RockAus! I have had this argument with so many people... apparently she was sick... and she is usually much better... I don't know. I was only going on the one show that I saw... and she just seemed really pre-occupied and not 'in it.' Not to mention that she sounded like she was hurting her voice...

Julia!!! What are you going to post? Me no comprehenday! MC - Yeah I hate when you get a person, you know should be much better, but you just hear them hurting their voice! I found that with David Campbell in Shout! The first time I saw him I was dumbfounded, and couldn't believe how good he was...then when I saw the same show in Sydney, I was severly let down by DC and it just sounded as though he was injuring his voice really badly!
